# What you may do with the data

> The plain-English short version of the AlphaYou API terms.

This page is a short guide. The contract is the [API terms](https://alphayou.net/legal/api-terms). If this page and the terms disagree, the terms win.

## You may

* Use the data for your own research, your own internal tools, and your own agents and assistants that work for you or your team.
* Quote up to 10 rows from a response, and up to 25 rows in any one article, post or report, with credit.
* Pass responses into an AI model during a request so it can answer you or your team. That is how an agent uses the API.
* Keep responses, and anything made from them, for up to 24 hours to save calls.

## You may not

* Resell, rent or give the data to anyone outside your organization, other than the quotes above.
* Show or serve our data to your own customers inside a product, site or app. That needs a separate licence.
* Copy or rebuild our dataset, or a large part of it, including by many small calls over time.
* Use the data to train, fine-tune or distil a model, or to build a training set.
* Build a data feed, API or research service that offers the same data.
* Get around a limit with extra keys, extra accounts or aliases of one inbox.
* Use wallet data to identify, contact or track the person behind a wallet, or to decide on credit, insurance or hiring.
* Remove or change the credit lines, dates, source links or research-only wording that come with the data.

An agent that answers people outside your organization needs an Enterprise licence.

## Credit

When you show or quote AlphaYou data:

1. Say "Source: AlphaYou" and link to alphayou.net.
2. Keep the as-of date and the source filing link that came with it.
3. If you quote a performance number, quote its period, benchmark, sample size and full range with it.
4. Do not say or suggest that AlphaYou endorses you or your product.

## Caching

Do not build a standing database of what the API returned. Do not present old data as current. Your AI assistant's normal chat history does not count against the 24 hour limit, as long as you do not use it to rebuild, search or resell our data.

## Government disclosure data

The keyed API does not return the financial disclosure reports of members of Congress or of executive branch officials. Federal law restricts how those reports may be used. Read the [API terms](https://alphayou.net/legal/api-terms) before you build on public summaries of them.

## Need more?

We license the API to partners. Write to [info@alphayou.net](mailto:info@alphayou.net) about an Enterprise licence.
